Japanese Surrender in Tokyo Bay: Chester Nimitz Signed Photograph. 14" x 11" photograph titled "The Japanese Surrender/ U. S. S. Missouri/ Tokyo Bay, 2 September 1945". Admiral Nimitz (identified as "C. W. Nimitz, U.S. Representative", possibly in the hand of Nimitz himself) is shown signing the Instrument of Surrender as MacArthur and Halsey look on. Nimitz has personally inscribed the lower border: "To Al Snell - with best wishes and great appreciation of your contribution to the war effort which made possible the above scene. C. W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, U S Navy". Minor crease in upper left corner. Neatly framed.Auction Info
