Rivington's New York Gazetteer: News from the First Continental Congress regarding the British Coercive Acts, October 20, 1774. 12" x 19", 4 pp. This newspaper contains news of the First Continental Congress, formed in the aftermath of the British Coercive Acts and the American Colonial reactions to them. This also contains a front page proclamation signed in type by The Governor of Virginia, Lord Dunmore, relating to LORD DUNMORE'S WAR. There is an inside page news report of the peace treaty signed ending LORD DUNMORE'S WAR. This issue also contains a full column ad for the new book "Captain James Cook's Late Voyage Around the World", containing a very detailed preview of the contents of this newly printed book on the first voyage of Captain Cook. Lastly, this rare pre-Revolutionary War newspaper predicts the Independence of America from the British Empire, even before the Revolutionary War began.
