Description
Abraham Lincoln: Civil War Checkerboard. Measuring 8 3/8" x 8 1/2" (fully open), this checkerboard was patented September 22, 1862 (Hill's Patent). It consists of two panels of albumen photographs depicting Abraham Lincoln and prominent Union commanders. These are affixed to a hinged cloth-covered board with gilt decorative border. There is some minor wear to the corners and hinge, with light spotting and loss to exterior fabric. It is in outstanding condition overall, especially the interior which is the truly important component. It shows little if any use. No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.Auction Info
