Description
Abraham Lincoln: Limited Edition Artist Proof Signed by Norman Rockwell. This 9.5" x 23.5" (sight) print is titled "Lincoln For the Defense" and signed by the artist in pencil below the plate: "A/P [artist proof] Norman Rockwell." Professionally double-matted and framed to an overall size of 24.25" x 38.5". The original work was created for the Saturday Evening Post's February 10th, 1962 edition. Lincoln is pictured in a white suit and holding an "Almanack," the imagery most likely alluding to the William "Duff" Armstrong trial, or "The Almanac Trial," in which he discredited a witness' account against his friend using an almanac that helped acquit the defendant from the accusation of murder.Condition: Light toning on the border, else fine.
