Description
Dwight D. Eisenhower & Theodore Roosevelt McKeldin: Rare Jugate of Ike and Maryland Governor. Rare 2" jugate from the 1952 campaign picturing Dwight D. Eisenhower and Maryland Governor Theodore McKeldin. These buttons were typically made with images of supporters of the candidate from the general public, with other examples picturing 1952 candidates Taft and Stevenson. This is the first example we have encountered with an actual political personality. McKeldin was not only the Republican Governor from Maryland, but also a big supporter of Eisenhower. In 1952 he campaigned heavily for Ike, and delivered the principal nominating speech for Eisenhower at the 1952 Republican National Convention in Chicago. It is very possible that McKeldin himself had this button made . This would be a great addition to an Eisenhower or jugate button collection.Condition: Excellent.
