Description
Photograph "Packers on Dyea Trail, Near Stone House," 1897. A very early imperial size photograph by La Roche, Seattle, Washington. He has imaged a pair of Indians (bottom left & right), a few packers, and prospectors packing their gold mining supplies over Chilkoot summit. It appears to be summer time as there is no snow yet on the pass. Period ink, "Prospectors, Packing over Chilkoot Summit, Route - Chilkoot Pass Transportation Co., Property of S. S. Bush." Measures approximately 7.5" x 9.5".Condition: Fine-very fine, normal wear on mount.
