Lewis Cass: Rare 1848 Campaign Cartoon. Small folio lithograph [15" x 11.25"] published by H. R. Robinson of New York in 1848, titled "An Old Hunker Fishing For Votes." It shows presidential candidate Lewis Cass fishing for Irish votes from New York, using Lt. Governor candidate Charles O'Conor as bait. The Irish voters, with picks and shovels, are ready to bite. A billboard in the background has broadsides for a "Cass & Butler Mass Meeting" and a "Rally for Ireland." Faint vertical fold, two short tears repaired with masking tape (no bleed-through), matted.
