Description

Andrew Jackson et al: Grouping of Forty Assorted Medals. Five sleeves are holding the forty embossed dies and medals. As mentioned in American Political Badges and Medalets 1789-1892 by Edmund B. Sullivan, there appear to be twelve dies from George Washington to Abraham Lincoln. The medals feature candidates including Andrew Jackson, Henry Clay, William Henry Harrison, and Daniel Webster. Samples consist of AJACK-H, AJACK-I, AJACK-K, DW-B, WHH-K, and more. Metals include brass, white metal, copper, and what could be silver. Ranging in size from 20mm to 28mm, with works by Charles Wyllys Betts. These have not been inspected beyond the coin filing system.

Condition: Expected wear, tarnish, and light scratching are present. A sample that may be WHH-1840-56 has the letters "A:B" stamped across Harrison's portrait. The "Perry" embossing die has a crack at the rim near five o'clock. Only a few have stray spots. These would make for a nice display.
