Description

[John Adams] Four Thomas Paine and Condor Medals. (1) 1796-1, 31mm, copper. The obverse features the text "End of Pain" with a figure hanging from the gallows. The reverse bears an open book reading, "The Wrongs of Man/ Jany 21, 1793." (2) 1796-2, 31mm, copper. The obverse is similar to 1796-1, and the reverse has the inscription "May The Knave of Jacobin Clubs Never Get A Trick." (3) PM-1796-5, 31mm, copper. Three men are pictured hanging on the obverse, with the text "Noted Advocates for the Rights of Man/ 1796." The reverse reads, "A Way To Prevent Knaves Getting A Trick." (4) PM-1796-7, 31mm, copper. The text "Pigs Meat/ Published By T. Spence London" adorns the obverse with the image of a pig standing on crowns. The reverse reads, "Noted Advocates For The Rights Of Man/ Thos Spence/ Sir Thos More/ Thos Paine."

Condition: Varying amounts of wear and tarnish can be seen throughout. In overall good condition.
