J. J. Audubon. Group of Four Rodents from Quadrupeds of North America. Philadelphia: 1843-1848. From the first imperial folio edition.J[ohn]. J[ames]. Audubon. Mus Leucopus, Raff. White Footed Mouse. Philadelphia: J. T. Bowen, 1844. Original hand-colored lithograph (Plate XL) from the first imperial folio edition of Audubon's The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America (Philadelphia: 1843-1848), printed and colored by J. T. Bowen and dated 1844. Margins trimmed and lightly toned; a few small pieces of tape along top edge at verso; a few narrow strips of discoloration at verso. Very good.
[Together with:] Neotoma Drummondii, Rich. Rocky Mountain Neotoma. Philadelphia: J. T. Bowen, 1843. Original hand-colored lithograph (Plate XXXIX) from the first imperial folio edition of Audubon's The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America (Philadelphia: 1843-1848), printed and colored by J. T. Bowen and dated 1843. A couple of corners bumped, some slight rippling at edges from handling; a few tiny spot-stains at extremities. Near fine.
[And:] Mus Minimus, Aud & Bach. Little Harvest Mouse. Males & Females. Philadelphia: J. T. Bowen, 1845. Original hand-colored lithograph (Plate LXV) from the first imperial folio edition of Audubon's The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America (Philadelphia: 1843-1848), printed and colored by J. T. Bowen and dated 1845. Lower right corner chipped and creased, with several short tears, the longest about 2.375 inches long and just touching extreme edge of image; more minor chipping and tears at remaining corners; nicking and a couple of short tears along left and right edges; a few spots of soiling scattered across surface; minor thumbsoiling and smudging at verso; tipped along top edge to sheet of heavy paper. Very good.
[And:] Arvicola Richardsonii, Aud & Bach. Richardson's Meadow Mouse. Philadelphia: J. T. Bowen, 1848. Original hand-colored lithograph (Plate CXXXV) from the first imperial folio edition of Audubon's The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America (Philadelphia: 1843-1848), printed and colored by J. T. Bowen and dated 1848. Small amount of nicking at and near corners; couple of short tears at top edge; a few small spot-stains and specks of soiling; tipped along top edge to sheet of heavy paper. Near fine.
