Description

Abraham Lincoln: "Southern Illustrated News" Cartoons. Two single sheets removed from issues of the "Southern Illustrated News", each page featuring an anti-Lincoln cartoon. The sheets measure 11 ½" x 16" each. One cartoon is titled: "Masks and Faces. King Abraham Lincoln before and after issuing the Emancipation Proclamation." The other page reprints a cartoon from "London Punch" titled "One Good Turn Deserves Another" in which Lincoln (dressed as Uncle Sam, but with a Scottish hat) offers to enlist a slave in the Union army, but the slave does not look the least bit interested.
