Description

Abraham Lincoln: Hand-Colored Emancipation Proclamation Engraving. 21 ¾" x 17 ¾" engraving titled: "Reading the Emancipation Proclamation". It shows an African American soldier reading aloud the text of the Emancipation Proclamation to his family. Published in 1864 by Lucius Stebbins of Connecticut. Several border tears not affecting plate. Chipping at top with stains in the border. Currently matted, but not framed. It displays very well and is a rare print, but even more so hand-colored.
