Description

Horace Greeley: Sought-after 1872 Ferrotype Showing Him Wearing his Trademark Hat. Despite the fact that several examples of this item have appeared on the market recently, this is a very rare and desirable variety, with probably fewer than ten known. This is one of the rare duplicates in the Berman Collection. The first example, in a different brass shell frame and in pristine condition, sold for $6562.50. The frame on this example is evenly toned, but the ferro portion is choice. 1.25" x 2". From the Merrill C. Berman Collection.
