Abbott", Director of Aeronautical and Space Research. It reads, in part: "You are hereby adjudged competent to serve as pilot of aircraft owned by and/or loaned to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for flight operations in the conduct of aeronautical and space research... This certificate becomes effective when countersigned by the Head of Flight Operations of your Field Station..."
