Apollo 8 Flown Pilot's Preference Kit (PPK) Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot James Lovell, Certified and Signed. A Beta cloth bag, 5.75" x 8.75" with a 2" gusset and a metal grommet in a hole at top center. Lovell has certified and signed at the bottom: "PPK on board Apollo 8 James Lovell CMP". A sewn-on tag has the printed information: "Kit, Pilot's Preference/ P/N SEB 12100018-202/ S/N 1018/ Mfg. by CSD/MSC 5/68". It also contains notes in Lovell's handwriting: "Flags Actually flown on Apollo 8 Dec-1969 [sic]" There are various other Lovell-penned notes on the bag: "Discs flown/ Diamond Ring/ Moon stone", "Lovell/ Borman/ Anders", and "for Children". The PPK allowed the Apollo astronauts to carry small items of a personal nature on each manned flight; this one was on board Apollo 8 during its historic lunar orbit mission December 21-27, 1968. Excellent condition.
