Description

Apollo 17 Lunar Module Flown Lunar Descent Abort Checklist Card Signed by and from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Gene Cernan. This 6.25" x 7.75" printed cardstock page containing malfunction procedures was flown to the surface of the moon on the LM Challenger. The front is titled "NO PDI + 12 APS ABORT"; the verso also contains the title "MINI FOOTBALL". There is a handwritten number at the lower right on the verso "7834.19" and both sides have the printed date "9/14/72". Captain Cernan has certified and signed the front: "Flown to the Lunar Surface on Apollo XVII Gene Cernan". This was retrieved by Apollo 17 Commander Gene Cernan prior to the jettisoning of the lunar module. The value of this card for the astronauts during lunar descent cannot be overstated; it literally could have made the difference between life and death had an emergency arisen. A very desirable space collectible in extremely fine condition.
