Description
Lot of Four (4) Interesting Fixed Blade Knives by Various Custom Knifemakers, including D'Alton Holder and Larry "The Hammer" Harley.Comprising: 1) Approximately 11-inches overall. 6-inch Damascus pattern blade. Knife marked HAWKINS. Hidden tang. Stainless steel guard. 2) Approximately 10 1/2-inches overall. 6-inch blade. Knife marked D'Holder / Farmington, N.M. High polish blade with nickel silver guard. Burl wood grip. 3) Approximately 9-inches overall. 5-inch blade marked STOCKDALE. Finger-grooved handle with brass spacers and guard. 4) Approximately 7 1/2-inches overall. 4-inch satin-finish blade marked HARLEY / BRTISOL / TENN - LP [Pine tree] on ricasso. Stag grips with steel pins.
Note: According to a web search, D'Alton Holder was born in Heald, Texas in 1940, was raised in Amarillo and graduated from West Texas State University with degrees in Fine Arts and English Lit. He began making knives in 1968, joined the Knifemakers Guild in 1973, this after already working for 25 years in the oil industry, Diamond Shamrock Corp.
Note: According to Blade Magazine, Larry "The Hammer" Harley was a lifelong resident of Bristol, Tennessee. He made knives under the business name of Lonesome Pine Knives, an American Bladesmith Society journeyman smith, he was the chair of the ABS Youth Program and was involved with the Wounded Warriors Project. Mr. Harley passed away on February 12, 2017.
Condition: All knives in good to very good condition. Storage and handling wear present throughout. Blades with nicks and fine scratches overall. Grips with normal wear.
