Large Wooden Footlocker Identified to Captain (Later Colonel) Williams Jones Nicholson.

30 x 16 x 13-inches. The chest is painted green and is marked with Nicholson's name and address. Nicholson (1856-1931) was a career officer in the U. S. Army serving in the Indian Wars (Wounded Knee Massacre), Spanish-American War, the Pancho Villa Expedition and WWI. He retired a colonel in 1920 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. The chest is accompanied with a biography of Nicholson printed from Wikipedia.
