Description

Group of Dug Civil War Bullets and Shell Fragment from Charles Town, West Virginia.

A riker-mount display containing 13 excavated Civil War artifacts, including 12 lead bullets of various calibers and one shell fragment, reportedly recovered from the Charles Town, West Virginia area, according to consignor notes. The bullets include some impacted examples, one of which shows deformation consistent with having struck a hard surface, possibly a tree or other obstacle. The shell fragment likely originated from an exploded artillery ordnance round, adding historical depth to the grouping. Please note: Charles Town, West Virginia, saw significant Civil War activity, frequently changing hands between Union and Confederate forces due to its strategic location in the Shenandoah Valley.

Condition: All items are in relic or dug condition, with typical oxidation, surface encrustation, and patina from long burial. Displayed in a modern riker-mount, this group offers a compelling glimpse into the battle-scattered remnants of the Civil War and the material history of field combat in the Shenandoah Valley region.
