[Civil War Era]. One black and white photographic print depicting deceased Union soldiers in a wheat field, Gettysburg. Circa 1863.


One black and white photographic print, measuring 7.75"x 7.25", mounted to cardstock, measuring 14"x 11". Printed paper label affixed to the verso with an ink notation below, reading: "Group of Union soldiers, killed in 'the wheat field', Gettysburg, July, 1863." Presumably the photography of Alexander Gardner, whose extremely similar photos from the aftermath at Gettysburg are held in the Library of Congress.

Condition: Print lightly scratched; large closed tear to the bottom edge of the mounting board, light dampstaining to the top edge, minor chipping to corners, not affecting image; minor damage on verso from removed tape, not affecting label or ink notation.
