Description

Confederate Texas Star Two-Piece Brass Button.

This is a 23 mm two-piece brass button featuring the large central star, encircled by the letters TEXAS, one at each point, with a lined field behind. The example corresponds to Albert TX23B, a Civil War-period type, produced circa 1861-1865 for Confederate use. No back mark.

Buttons of this pattern were worn by troops of the Texas state and Confederate forces, often seen on frock coats, shell jackets, and militia uniforms. The star-and-letters motif is one of the most recognizable emblems of Texas pride and military identity during the mid-19th century, and these buttons are highly collected today
