Description

Starr Contract of 1818 Cavalry Sword.
32-inch curved blade with wide fullers running to within 5-inches of the point. Obverse side of blade stamped "US / P / LS / N. STARR". Iron hilt with leather wrapped grip. Japanned metal scabbard with two carrying rings. The scabbard has an old paper handwritten note affixed which reads: "Gettysburg Battlefield / From Cemetery / July 22, 1863".

Condition: Very good. Blade with a uniformly smooth gray patina; leather on grip scuffed; scabbard with scattered shallow dents and retaining much of the japanned finish.
