Description
Civil War Union Officers' Hardee Hat Bullion Insignia, Matched Pair of Majors' Shoulder Insignia, and Two Post-War Waist Belt Plates.Includes: 1) Hardee Hat side insignia, 2 1/8 X 3 ¼-inches, the reverse covered with black polished cotton, retaining both brass pin fasteners. Black wool background, gold bullion embroidered eagle, riband and outer row of rays. The stars and inner row of rays embroidered in silver bullion. Brass coiled wire around the edge. Choice example of this scarce piece of Civil War and earlier officer's insignia. 2) Matched pair of major's bullion shoulder insignia. 3) Post-Civil War brass "US" waist belt plate, approximately 3 ¼ x 2 ¼-inches. No maker or bench mark. 4) Another brass "US" waist belt plate, with keeper.
