Remington Rand Model 1911 A1 U.S. Army Semi-Automatic Pistol.

Serial no. 1005516, .45 caliber, 5-inch barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued finish. Ordnance proof and UNITED STATES PROPERTY M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY. Left side of slide marked: REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, NY U.S.A. Checkered rubber grip panels. Grip safety. Lanyard ring. Two-toned magazine. Manufactured in 1943.
During World War II, the demand for military sidearms increased dramatically, leading to several companies, including Remington Rand, being contracted to produce the 1911A1. Although originally a business machine company, Remington Rand quickly adapted to firearms production and eventually became one of the largest producers of M1911A1 pistols during the war. Their production numbers exceeded those of any other manufacturer, including Colt and Ithaca.

Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 94-96% finish with some thinning to relief edges and light handling wear. Action crisp. Bright bore.
