Description

Japanese Wakizashi Sword Attributed to the Shinto Era. Blade measuring just under 17 ½-inches, 24 ½-inches overall. Unsigned tang, with single hole. Pierced iron tsuba. Cloth-wrapped handles. Gilt foliate menuki. Stippled fuchi. Gilded wooden saya. Consignor's identification tag indicates the sword is from the Shinto era, but this has not been verified.

Condition: Good. Overall light gray patina to blade with noticeable blemishes on either side. Ray or shark skin covering on handle with vertical crack on the obverse side.
