Description

U.S. 48-Star Flag Attributed to the USS O'Bannon (DD-450) From the Rungee Collection.

Cotton, multi-piece construction with printed stars and brass grommets at the hoist end. Approximately 36 x 58-inches. The flag is accompanied by Vexillological Inventory Form from the Flag Heritage Foundation which incorrectly identifies the ship as the "USS O'Barron 450" of which no destroyer by that name exists. The O'Bannon, on the other hand, was a Fletcher-class destroyer that earned 17 battle stars in the Pacific Theater and Korean War. She was among destroyers given the honor escorting the USS Missouri into Tokyo Harbor at the end of the war.

Condition: A few small holes in the canton. Good condition.
