Spanish-American War: Group of Service Medals, Shooting Awards and Insignia Identified to 1st Lieutenant Ashley R. Farless, 1st California Volunteer Infantry, 2nd Artillery, D Battery.

Includes: 1) State of California Spanish-American War Service medal, bronze, 38-mm with crossed-cannon pendant. 2) Oakland, California Active Service medal, bronze, 31-mm, red/white/blue silk ribbon and bronze cannon with "2" used as pendant. Maker marked Schaezlein & Burridge, San Francisco. 3) 1893 3rd Class Gunner's Badge, sterling, maker marked Hammersmith & Field, engraved "A. Farless / 32 6/8 Av." 4) Gunner's Badge, 2nd Artillery, D Battery, with 2nd and 3rd class clasps dated 1895 and 1894 respectively. Engraved on the reverse "A. R. Farless". Maker marked Schaezlein & Burridge, San Francisco and stamped sterling. 5) National Guard of California Shooting award with two RIFLEMAN clasps dated 1895 and 1896. Maker marked Shreve, S.F. and stamped sterling. Numbered on the reverse 2408. 6) National Guard of California Shooting award with two bronze RIFLEMAN clasps, one bronze MARKSMAN clasp and one silver SHARPSHOOTER clasps with dates from 1896 to 1901. Maker marked Shreve & Co and stamped sterling. 7) Officers 2nd Artillery collar insignia.
