WWII Danish Merchant Navy Swallow Tail Flag Flown Aboard the SS Julius Thomsen From the Dr. Clarence Rungee Flag Collection.Wool, multipiece construction, 113 x 63-inches (approximately). Marked by hand in ink on the hoist "DENMARK JULIUS THOMSEN." Sold with the original typed letter (in Danish) on State Ministry letterhead, dated May 19, 1947 that accompanied the flag and also a photocopy of a typed letter on Danish Information Office letterhead, dated January 2, 1947 to Rungee requesting confirmation that he had received the flag. Inventory form from Dr. Rungee's Flag Heritage Foundation completes the provenance.
Condition: With moderate to heavy stains, tears and small holes from honest use, large section of one swallow tail missing. Fair condition.
