Spencer Repeating Arms Model 1865 Saddle Ring Carbine Attributed to a Cheyenne Warrior.

Serial no. 19835, .52 caliber, 20-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding ladder sight. Case-hardened hammer and lever. Saddle ring. Smooth hardwood straight stock and fore-end. Sling swivel. Metal buttplate. Sold along with typed and handwritten notarized letter, dated 12/03/2021. Letter states that the Spencer was taken by a Cheyenne warrior from a 7th Cavalry soldier at the Battle of the Washita, in November 1868.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with scattered handling wear and patches of pitting. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Some loss along edges. Action good. Lightly pitted bore.
