Description

Imperial German Oldenburg Infantry Regiment No. 91 Model 1895 NCO Spiked Helmet.

Measuring approximately 9-inches tall with polished body and visors. The gilded-brass eagle front plate with separately applied silver Oldenburg star is mounted to the helmet body via loops and leather thongs. There appear to be another set of holes just adjacent to the holes used for the front plate and there appears to be the outline of a slightly larger eagle on the front. The gilded-brass circular spike base is affixed to the helmet via four domed-head retainers. Underside of front visor trim maker stamped "H. Muller & Co. Offenbach". Complete with leather chinstrap retaining both the Reichs and Oldenburg cockades. Enlisted-style nine finger leather liner.

Condition: Very good. Light scratches and abrasions; typical crazing to visors, leather chinstrap cracked and dry. From the collection of J.T. Hamrick, M.D.
