Description
Civil War C. Sharps 1852 Breechloading Rifle.Serial no. 55081 [upper tang], .52 caliber, 30-inch barrel with fixed front sight. Blued finish. R.S. Lawrence and C. Sharps patent dates to right side of receiver. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Two barrel bands and sling swivels. Hinged patchbox to right side of stock. Metal carbine buttplate.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with noticeable handling wear and patches of pitting. Rear ladder sight broken, butt included with rifle. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Action functions. Moderately pitted bore.
