Description
U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle.Serial no. 204416, .45-70 caliber, 29 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable folding rear sight. Blued finish. Lock marked: (eagle) and U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873. Smooth hardwood straight stock with sling swivel and two barrel bands. Metal cleaning rod. U.S. stamped carbine buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Action good. Strong bore. Tom Mixon Collection
