Description

Civil War: Group of Four Images of Unidentified Union Soldiers.

Includes: 1) 9th plate ambrotype of an unidentified young soldier shown from the waist up. The buttons of his uniform have been highlighted by hand. Of note is the image is housed in a double Union case "Day, Aurora with the Genius of Light" (Krainik 391). There is a small arrangement of flowers and other plate life facing the image. 2) 6th plate tintype of a seated Union soldier with excellent detail of his musket, equipment and revolver tucked in his belt. Housed under glass in a smooth-grained leather case. 3) 6th plate tintype of a seated Union officer with a Staff and Field officer's sword across his lap. Elements of the image have been enhanced by hand. Housed under glass in an embossed leather case. 4) 1/6th plate tintype featuring a seated Union cavalry trooper holding a Model 1860 cavalry saber and with a revolver tucked in his belt. The buttons of uniform and certain facial features have been enhanced by hand. Housed under glass in an embossed leather case.

Condition: 1) A bit of hazing to the image; the case has a small crack at the corner edge of the lid and the catch isn't functioning, otherwise a very good image. 2) Very good. 3) Very good with some light wear to the case. 4) Very good with some light to moderate scuffing to case.
