Colt Lightning Small Frame Slide Action Rifle AKA CLMR (Colt
Lightning Magazine Rifle).Serial no. 28735, .22 caliber, 24-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued finish. Rampant Colt to left side of receiver. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Checkered factory hard rubber buttplate. Manufactured in 1897. Sold together with copy of Colt Factory Letter confirming configuration; .22 rimfire, 24" octagon configuration, blue, wood, shipped to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis, Mo. on October 15, 1897. Guns in shipment, 20.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 60-70% finish with thinning to relief edges, fine patches of pitting and handling wear. Scattered dings and scuffs present to wood. Action good. Strong bore. Property from the James R. Glascock Collection.
