Description
Antique Bowie Knife with Silver Mounted Leather Scabbard.10 1/2-inches overall [not in scabbard]. A 6-inch clip point blade unmarked. Flat German silver crossguard of ovoid form. Nicely figure handle with finger grooves with flat silvered pommel cap. Contained in silver fitted tooled leather scabbard; also fitted by belt clip and silver band of German silver [no markings]. Scabbard is decorative stamped in a Spanish/Moroccan style; perhaps an Indian Trade Knife. Late 19th century.
Condition: Good, blade has been sharpened and cleaned. Stress cracks in handle, otherwise aging properly. Scabbard is fragile and with breaks to the leather; barely hanging on. Collection of a Southern Gentleman.
