Two-line, three-date patent and Rampant Colt to left side of frame. Grip butt engraved W.E. RIGGS. Factory letter included confirms most of the configuration, including serial number, caliber and length [stocks not listed]. Gun was shipped to Wolf & Klar, Fort Worth, Texas on June 17, 1922 in a shipment of five guns [Colt Factory Order #6059/5]. Included in the sale of the gun is documentation from Robert D. Moser, Capt USA Retired regarding the gun and its history. In the notarized letter, Moser states "The above referenced Colt SAA revolver, Serial #342857 was shipped to the well-respected company of Wolf & Klar.............The above Colt SAA was believed to be purchased by the late Texas Ranger W.E. Riggs and bears his na,e engraved on its bottom grip frame. This Colt revolver is believed to be shown being worn by Ranger Riggs in incl 2 which is a picture depicting an arrest by Ranger Riggs during the east Texas oil boom.....I believe the grips were added after shipment and most likely by Wolf & Klar, who were not only known to provide deluxe stocks but also custom engraving if customer requested.....W.E. "Ebb" Riggs started his law enforcement career at age 17 as a deputy sheriff of Zaualla County, Texas........He remained in this position for 24 years, retiring at age 65 in 1963." Signed Robert D. Moser. Other miscellaneous related paperwork include are all photocopies; images of W.E. Riggs, The State of Texas, Oath of Members Range Force document, picture at East Texas Oilfields believed to be showing him with this gun [according to Moser document] and a few more images from the 1930's related to the Texas Rangers and "Ebb" Riggs.
Condition: Very good as configured. Gun appears to have been cleaned and buffed at some point, showing a neutral overall gray toning polished look. Grips added later and in good condition with proper aging. Action good, bore ok.
