18K Gold and Enamel Sweetheart Brooch, HMS Hood.

1 1/2-inches long. Featuring the ship's insignia of a Cornish chough facing left mounted on an anchor, with "STEADY" and "HOOD" below. In May of 1941 the Hood was dispatched to intercept the German battleship Bismarck and heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. The Hood was sunk in the engagement and only three of her crew of 1,418 survived. Sold in a newer jewelry casket-style box.
