Description
Cased Civil War Trephining Kit.A very nice set used for skull operations. Set appears complete; highlights include Trepan bits, Hey's cranial saw, brush tool and a scalpel marked PHILA. Label inside the red-velour lined brass bound wooden case reads F.C. LEYPOLDT / PHILI. PA. Vacant brass escutcheon to lid. Note: According to place card included with the set, this kit was used by Dr. Brandt of Warrenton, Missouri and the maker of the set was unknown. Dimensions; 9 1/2 by 6 1/4-inches.
Condition: Fine as presented, with evidence of wear and use, some minor spots on blades as expected. Handles with stress and handling wear. The wooden case inside with minor scuffs, outer case with expected handling wear and nicks to edges. Stress wear to bottom on wood.
