U.S. Model 1850 Foot Officers' Sword Made by Collins & Co., 1862.

31-inch slightly curved blade etched on both sides with foliate and patriotic designs. Reverse ricasso marked COLLINS & Co. / HARTFORD / CONN / 1862. Red leather throat washer present. Gilded-brass hilt, wire-wrapped fish skin grips. Leather scabbard with gilded-brass mounts and drag.

Condition: Blade exhibits mainly scabbard wear; traces of gilt remain on the hilt; scabbard a bit dry with some splitting at the seam and light surface cracks. Very good.
