Engraved Philadelphia Deringer Percussion Pistol.

Unserialized, approximately .41 caliber, 3-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Top of barrel stamped: DERINGER / PHILADEL. Scroll engraved hammer, upper tang, lock and triggerguard. Lock marked: DERINGER / PHILADEL. Checkered walnut stock. Blank badge silver escutcheon to wrist. Invented by Henry Deringer Jr., a Philadelphia gunsmith, in the 1830s-1860s. Became wildly popular as a compact personal defense weapon, especially for gentlemen and gamblers.

Condition: Very good. Overall showing honest handling wear, age and fine patches of pitting. Few minor dings present to wood. Action good. Strong bore.
