Description

Vienna Marked Rapier.

Approximately 45-inches overall with a 36 1/2-inch double edge straight blade. 1-inch at its widest point. Cast hilt, wire wrapped grip, enlarged pommel cap and curved quillons, all with a foliage pattern. Blade signed in 8-inch fullers [marked] on both sides VIENNA, both sides with illegible marks after and before VIENNA. Appears blade is [17-18th cent] and hilt [possibly 20th cent]. Condition: Good with heavy age wear, showing a mottled gray patina on blade and parts of the hilt. Fine scratches present to metal. Nicotine stains throughout.
