Civil War Identification Badge and Framed Tintype and CDV of Private Jackson Miller, Company G, Maryland 1st Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry - "Coles Cavalry".

Includes: 1) CDV of Miller posed standing, in uniform and holding a Colt percussion revolver. The verso of the image has a notation, in pencil "My father / Jackson Miller" and is marked by hand in ink at the bottom "J. Miller / Co. E. Coles / Md. C". The image bears the studio imprint of Marken's Gallery, Frederick, Maryland on the verso. 2) Miller's small identification badge. German-silver, approximately 1 x 1-inch, pinback. The obverse of the shield-shaped badge is neatly engraved "Jackson Miller / Co [crossed swords] G / Coles Md. Cav". 3) Framed full-plate tintype of Miller holding his sword.

Jackson Miller enlisted as a private on February 21, 1864 and shortly thereafter mustered into G Company of the Maryland 1st Potomac Home Brigade Cavalry. He was mustered out at Harper's Ferry on June 28, 1865. The lot is accompanied by scores of photocopied pages of Miller's service documents to further facilitate research.
