Civil War Identification Badge, Promotion Document and Discharge for Sergeant Mark Donnelly, Maryland 1st Cavalry.

Including: 1) German-silver identification badge, approximately 1 3/4 x 2 3/4-inches. Pinback. Marked "M. Donnelly." on the suspension and "Co. M. / 1st. / Md. Vol. Cav. / [crossed saber vignette]". Maker marked Trebus & Steiner, St. Louis and J. S. Ginger, Sole Agents, St. Louis. 2) Donnelly's promotion document to sergeant, one page, 14 ¾ x 10-inches, partially printed, the remainder completed in manuscript. Dated January 1, 1865, signed by Colonel Andrew Wallace Evans, the regiment's commander. 3) Donnelly's discharge document, one page, 8 1/2 x 11-inches, partially printed, the remainder completed in manuscript, Richmond, August 8, 1865.
Mark Donnelly was born in Galway, Ireland. He enlisted on February 22, 1864 as a private. He mustered into "M" Company of the Maryland 1st Cavalry. He mustered out on August 8, 1865.
Condition: 1) Very good. 2) With old fold creases, otherwise very good. 3) Paper uniformly toned, old smoothed fold creases. Good condition.
