Description

Colt Model 1855 Half Stock Revolving Shotgun.
Serial no. 1061 [receiver and buttplate], 10 gauge smoothbore, 33-inch round barrel with semi-octagonal breech and fixed front bead sight. HARTFORD, of Colt address, partially worn to topstrap. Smooth, faintly checkered walnut straight stock and fore-end. Metal tipped wood ramrod. Metal buttplate. Manufactured from 1860-1863, approximately 1,100.
Provenance: National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Sold to benefit the Museum's collections and acquisitions.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a bright grey patina, with noticeable signs of age, wear and pitting. Wire repair to to barrel and ramrod housing, near muzzle. Scuffs, dings and scratches to wood. Cracks to each side of wrist. Trivial screw to right side of stock, behind trigger. Top screw absent to buttplate. Action needs adjustment. Moderately pitted bore.
