Description
Gentleman's Sword Cane.Overall length is 35 1/2-inches with a 27 1/2-inch etched sword blade with single fullers on each side. Blade is decorated/etched with a Panoply of Arms and unknown Coat of Arms, also etched NO ME SAQUES SIN RAZON / NO ME EMBAINES SIN HONOR [translation: Do not draw me without reason / Do not sheath me without honor]. Internal hidden retention clasp releases the sword from the shaft when pulled slowly. Bamboo fitted overall with an intricated yet primitive cluster design to the knob handle with mix-metal beads and simple carving. Cane weighs approximately 15 ounces.
Condition: Good to very good as presented. Wear overall, blade good with overall with some pitting spots and etching loses, but solid design. Bamboo with a few small cracks to shaft, as expected, with moderate stress crack to handle from collar. Metal parts with light tarnish and some minor dents. Missing a few studs to handle.
