Description

Spanish Miquelet Blunderbuss Pistol.

Bore is approximately 1 5/8-inches at its widest, 7-inch two-stage barrel. Period light engraving to miquelet lockplate, hammer, sideplate, triggerguard and upper tang. Checkered wooden one-piece stock. Iron ramrod present. Circa 1840-1850's.
Miquelet lockplates are easily identified for their external mainspring and robust construction. Its widespread use in Spain, Italy, North Africa and the Ottoman Empire, combined with its durable design, makes it an important feature in the history of early firearms.

Condition: Very good condition overall. Metal parts display a mellow silvered patina overall. Stock with bruising and marks overall, stress crack on left side of stock above sideplate. A few marred screws. Action good, bore dark.
