Description

German Two-Handed Sword.

Approximately 60-inches overall with a 43 1/2-inch straight double edge blade, no parrying hooks, [or Parierhaken in German]. Double armorer's mark present on one side of the ricasso [cross and running lines]. 18-inch fuller runs on both sides of the blade. Simple round 16-inch quillons with flared oval guards on both sides. Massive wooden 13-inch handle leads to iron pommel cap with button. Note: Also known as a Zweihänder or Beidhänder in German, these massive swords were not meant to be carried in sheaths, but rather across the shoulder like a halberd. Condition: Very good for its age and configuration, dark mottled gray patina. Nicks and mars overall. The guard section with age patina. A few stress cracks, discoloration and bruising to handle. The guard section is tight. Nicotine stains present.
