Description
Pierced and Inlaid European Cup Hilt Rapier.Approximately 51-inches overall with a 40 1/2-inch double edge blade with a single narrow fuller 5-inches from the hilt on each blade. Sword is 3/4-inches at its widest. Intricate large wrought iron cup with surrounding gilt inlays and pierced foliage designs [cup diameter 5 1/2-inches]. Beautiful 4-inch pierced grip [floral scrollwork] with twisted pommel cap. Straight quillons with twist design and flared ends. Condition: Good with age wear and pitting throughout blade. Dark overall finish. Showing an overall mottled gray patina on blade and hilt. Overall traces of lacquer present. Fine scratches to metal. Crude metal and some pitting inside hilt, but dark. Nicotine stains, should clean well. Small loss to tip.
