Pierced and Embossed Cup Hilt Rapier.

Approximately 51-inches overall with a 40 1/4-inch diamond blade. Sword is 3/4-inches at its widest. Intricate large embossed wrought iron cup with surrounding faint gilt features, pierced foliage designs and Roman and angelic figures. [cup diameter 4 7/8-inches with figured border]. Beautiful 3 3/4-inch pierced grip, pommel cap and button with grotesque elements, figures throughout. Recurved quillons with dragon motif. Marked ANTONIO on on one side of blade, near ricasso [protected within the cup hilt] and [illegible] on the other side. Weighs approximately 3 pounds. Condition: Very good with age wear and pitting throughout blade. Dark overall finish. Showing an overall dark gray patina on blade and hilt, with remnants of a lacquered application. Fine scratches to metal. Crude metal and some pitting inside hilt, but dark. Nicotine stains, should clean well. Blade/Cup a bit lose.
