Description

German Two-Handed Broadsword.

Approximately 57-inches overall with a 43-inch blade with parrying hooks [or Parierhaken in German]. 17-inch blade guard with engraved foliage pattern and with fleur-de-lis style ends. 1/2-wide fuller; 28-inches long adorns the blade on both sides 10-inch wire-wrapped [two-stage] two-handed handle leading to a pattern iron pommel cap. 1 7/8-inches at its widest. Please note, sword has not been dated. Also known as a Zweihänder in German, these massive swords were not meant to be carried in sheaths, but rather across the shoulder like a halberd. Condition: Very good with modest wear, handling and configuration. Nicks to blade. Finish primarily a smooth grey age patina with noticeable age wear and pitting throughout. Wire needs tightening. Nicotine stains are present.
